Hydrophilic PTFE Membranes
Hydrophilic PTFE H-type membrane is a thin, unsupported porous film which is treated to be hydrophilic. This membrane exhibits high flow rates with minimal aqueous extractables. PTFE membrane is manufactured in a unique way where polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) is expanded both uniaxially and biaxially. The resultant membrane is thin, highly porous, and behaves as an absolute retentive membrane.
PTFE offers maximum chemical and pH resistance to a broad range of aqueous and organic solvents. Typical applications include filtration of solvents and admixtures used in HPLC. Since a Hydrophilic PTFE filter is optically clear when wet it is ideally suited for culture and microscopic examination of cells or particles captured on the filter surface without requiring a separate step to render the filter optically clear.
NOTE: Autocaving and allowing this filter to dry will render it hydrophobic.
